Collecting and sorting:
Worn or discarded polyamide-based textiles are collected from various sources such as collection containers or in-shop returns. The materials are separated from other materials.
Shredding:
The collected polyamide containing textiles get shredded to break them down into smaller pieces.
Depolymerization:
The long chains of nylon polymer are broken down into individual molecules, the so-called monomers.
Purification:
Remaining impurities are removed to yield the pure nylon monomers.
Polymerization:
The purified polyamide monomers are reacted to new polyamide polymers. The monomers are linked back together in controlled conditions to create new polyamide chains with the desired properties. The process is identical to the production of virgin polyamide.
Spinning:
The newly synthesized polyamide polymer is melted and extruded through fine openings to form long fibers. These fibers are spun into yarn using traditional textile spinning methods.
Textile Production:
The yarn is ready for textile production, be it weaving, knitting, or non-woven techniques, to create clothing, accessories, or other nylon-based products.
